Evolution in the jewelry show calendar

For more than a month now, since the beginning of the emergency due to COVID-19, we have been seeing the postponing or even the cancellation of trade fair events that would have seen us, who more who less, involved in the coming months, in Italy and abroad. It all started with Hong Kong where HKTDC first postponed from March to June and then suspended both fairs dedicated to the world of jewellery, the Hong Kong International Jewelry Show and the Hong Kong International Diamond, Gem & Pearl Show.

Then, Istanbul where the 50th edition of the Istanbul Jewelry Show, also in March, was postponed in June (18-21) and now news from OroArezzo of April which, after a postponement for June, will take place in July (18-21).

The first cancellations have also come from America: Couture and Antique Jewelry and Watch Show event in Las Vegas await us for the coming year. Everything is still on hold on the JCK Las Vegas front from which we are expecting to know if they will postpone during the year 2020 or in 2021.

From the Swiss front, if Basel immediately declared the delay of Baselworld at the end of January 2021, in the meantime it lost important attendees through the way: Rolex, Patek Philippe, Chanel, Chopard and Tudor leave the Swiss fair to create in Geneva, with the FHH (Fondation de la Haute Horlogerie), a new event dedicated to watches, scheduled for early April 2021 at the Palexpo, simultaneously with Watches & Wonders.

The appointment scheduled for the end of April, from 26 to 29, organized by some prestigious luxury brands that still a few weeks ago had announced the organization of an independent event, the Geneva Watch Days 2020, remains unchanged: brands including Bulgari, Breitling, Ulysse Nardin, Girard-Perregaux and MB&F, should meet retailers and press in various hotels in Geneva, obviously respecting the safety and health prevention measures, with the desirable mission to guaranteeing visibility to the participating companies as well as countering the slowdown of the business that also before this global lockdown, it showed signs of distress. Also from Geneva, the EPHJ-EPMT-SMT, international leader event dedicated to high precision watchmaking, microtechnology and medical technology, scheduled for June was announced to have been reprogrammed in September from 15 to 18.

Returning to our beautiful country, if from Palakiss Business Center there is still no news of the cancellation or postponement of the SPRING edition scheduled for May from 9 to 11, from Il Tarì Mondo Prezioso comes the declaration of "suspension" of the SUMMER Preview event, while the first edition of JOY - For Jewelry Lovers which would have debuted in June in conjunction with the edition of Cosmoprof Worldwide Bologna, has been postponed directly to 2021.
