Have you ever thought of a diamond bigger than a table tennis ball? Not even thinkable for the majority of us… “Lesedi La Rona” is exceeding its dimension, which in tswana language means “our light”. With a weight of over a 1000 karats, it is in fact the largest stone found in the last 100 years around the world, second after the legendary “Cullinan” that was never found.
Last Thursday at Sotheby’s auction in London, it has remained unsold, with a base price of 70 Millions of US Dollars. Was it too high or a consequence of Brexit? Or the fact it was rough? The highest bit was 61 million. Result? The stone is still looking for a buyer. Those concerned have been warned!
